Here is another classic Bugatti I had a chance to see last summer. I am not sure why I forgot to post these as the machine turning detailing on the engine compartment is just a work of art. It's companion that day can be found on a separate post.

1928 Bugatti Type 44 Roadster
This Type 44 roadster was part of the entourage accompanying the Bugatti Veyron Gran Sport that was exhibited a the Redmond Town Center this past Summer. Great lines but most of all, I like that beautiful straight eight.

Engines - Panhard PL 17
This little French jewel is an 848cc twin-cylinder boxer engine making around 50hp. Probably the coolest feature for me is the fact that the valve train does not use coil springs. Instead, it uses a torsion bar housed on the two small vertical cylinders that you can see on each side of the engine. I spotted this one at a local car show over a year ago. A real treat to see one in person!

M35 - Citroën's Experimental Wankel Powered Coupe
It was the late 60's and Citroën was exploring the viability of rotary engines for future models. Enter the M35. Now this one is one that has been peeking my curiosity for some time. This interesting little coupe served as a test bed for a number of systems planned for future models in the range. In a "Beta test" of sorts, Citroën ended up producing 267 cars during the three year period between 1969-71.
I think that the very angular "fastback" profile is part of the attraction.

Citroen SM Police Cruiser
This Citroen SM prepared for the Gendarmerie (French police) must have been the coolest police interceptor of the 1970's!

Spotted - Veyron Grand Sport at Exotics@RTC
Today was Bugatti day at Exotics@RTC and the center piece was a beautiful blue Veyron Grand Sport. A couple weeks ago I was commenting that I had never seen a Veyron. Well, that was before I decided to head South to Monterrey for the Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance and came across four including a Grand Sport and a Super Sport. That makes five Veyrons in a week! I can't believe the number of people that showed up today to see this thing. It did seem to attract more attention than in Monterrey ;-)
