Pebble Beach 2011 - 1949 Porsche 356 Gmund Coupe

This 356/2 Coupe is the 45th Porsche built. The first 52 Porsche’s were hammered out over wooden bucks by four employees in the little saw mill in Gmünd, Austria. It is powered by an 1100 cc, 40 hp air-cooled engine, with two Solex carburetors. This car won 1st place on the Postwar Sports Closed class this year. M35 - Citroën's Experimental Wankel Powered Coupe

It was the late 60's and Citroën was exploring the viability of rotary engines for future models. Enter the M35. Now this one is one that has been peeking my curiosity for some time. This interesting little coupe served as a test bed for a number of systems planned for future models in the range. In a "Beta test" of sorts, Citroën ended up producing 267 cars during the three year period between 1969-71.

I think that the very angular "fastback" profile is part of the attraction.

Citroen SM Cam Chain Tension Adjustment How-To Videos

I was searching for Citroen SM information on the Web this morning as I do on occasion and came across a couple of great videos on how to adjust the timing chains on the Maserati C-114 engine. Timing chain failures are the Achilles heel of this engine as they suffer from poor lubrication and require regular adjustment. Failure to do so will result in a major break down I am told. Ferrari 250GTO 50th Anniversary at Pebble Beach

Ferrari 250GTOs as far as the eye could see. If you are a fan of this famous race car, the 2011 Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance was the place to be this past August. Twenty two of these Italian thoroughbreds including the first car to be built, were a highlight of this show. It was great not only to see but to hear these fabulous machines. Most interesting, 4 of the 22 cars that were on display reside in the Pacific Northwest. What's up with these owners that we never get to see these rolling pieces of history around our local events? With many of these changing hands in the multi-million dollar range it is not surprising they only come out for special occasions.
