2012 NW VW Club Fall Fling

Fall is here and dry days and blue skies are becoming pretty scarce so it was great to finish up this car show season with one last cruise to the Triple X. This time for the 2012 Volkswagen Fall Fling organized by the Northwest VW Club. There is always something cool to see..

2012 Kirkland Concours d'Elegance

Last Sunday we found ourselves back at LeMay America's Car Museum (ACM) in Tacoma, Washington. This time for something really special, the 10th annual Kirkland Concours d'Elegance. This event has really become a tradition around the Puget Sound region and the ACM is its new home. A very different venue than the traditional Carillon Point location but the museum complements the car shows really well and offers a more down to earth location than the Utopian East Side. The brass-era and pre-war cars really caught our attention and having a chance to hear those engines was the icing on the cake. Here are some of our favorites rides.

2012 Capital City Vette Fest

Today was all about Corvettes with multiple events in the Puget Sound as well as in other part of the country. This year I choose to stop by the Capital City Vette Fest. My first time to the new Haub Family field of Le May's Americas Car Museum. Although Corvettes of all generation were present there was a significant number of C6 and C5 cars. Not exactly was I was hpping for but still a good opportunity to see how people are modifying their rides these days. Overall, a fun time with good weather in a nice location close to home. Looking forward to come back for the Kirkland Concours d'Elegance comming up in a couple of weeks!

2012 Bumpy's Dubfest

Summer is not going to be around much longer so every weekend counts. It has been a long while since I have stopped by a VW show so today we made our way to Puyallup to see what is going on in the air-cooled community. Excellent weather, interesting people and a number of cool rides. Here are a few of my favorites...

2012 All Italian Car Show at the Triple X Rootbeer Drive-in

Spring is here and that means it is time for the All Italian Car Show! Unlike last year, this year we enjoyed a beautiful day and the turnout was great. There were tons of Alfas, Fiats, Ferrari and even a Maserati or two. My favorites are shown below. If you enjoy these, you may want to take a look at the photos of the 2011 or the 2010 events.

2012 Swedish Car Cruise-In at the Triple X Rootbeer Drive-in

What a better way to start the car show season at the Triple X Rootbeer Drive-in but with a gathering of Volvos and Saabs. After all, these look quite at home with grey skies and a little rain. A little different from  last year's gathering which happened on a sunny but very chilly day. As always I gravitated to the older cars. Some were present last year, still, there was a couple I had not seen before.

2011 Mini Car Show at the Triple X Rootbeer Drive-in

I stopped by the Mini Car Show at the Triple X Rootbeer Drive-in this morning and was pleasantly surprised to find a great turnout of original Minis. Now, don't get me wrong there were plenty of late model Minis as well but the original Mini really caught my attention today. Pick-up trucks, racing cars, custom jobs, late model fuel-injected cars. A good slice of the history of the Mini was well represented today.

Waterwerks 2011

It was an interesting day at Watewerks 2011. Lots of people having a good time and sharing their passion for the Volkswagen and Audi brands. It is a bit disappointing to see that early Golfs/Jettas/Sciroccos are so thin on the ground. On the other hand, it is interesting to see how the younger generations embrace car customizing in their own way. Technology has moved forward, however, many of the mods are really the same as they were back in the early 80's. And what's up with the Passats B5.5? Well under-represented as always. The W8 seemed lost in the parking lot. It seems that people graduate from Golf to Audi A4s to Porsches 911 around here. The crowds seem younger with each passing year. Perhaps I am just getting older. :-(

2011 Goodguys Pacific Northwest Nationals

The Goodguys show is the highlight of the summer car show season. A definitive assault on the senses. Where else can you sit under a tree and watch hot rods, customs, and all sorts of classics roll by hour after hour. It is hard to choose a favorite so here are a few. 2011 Harnish Family Car Show

The cars were awesome, the food was great and the weather did not disappoint. All in all another great year for the Harnish Family Car Show. There were rides for all tastes from Rat Rods to Ferrari. Definitively worth the drive to Puyallup. Looking forward to next year!

2011 All Italian Car Show

The 2011 All Italian Car Show at the Triple X Rootbeer Drive-in was a bit of a washout today. A reminder that we just can't count on the weather around here. Too bad because last year's show was one of my personal favorites. A few interesting cars did showed up including a couple of cool Lancias, Alfas, Ferraris and Fiats. I will highlight a few of my favorites on future posts...

2011 VW Cruise-in at the Triple X Rootbeer Drive-in

Great turnout today for the 2011 edition of the Volkswagen Cruise-in at the Triple X Rootbeer Drive-in. There were cars, buses and trucks of all vintages. All Corvette Car Show at the Waterfront Festival - Anacortes, WA
