The
Museum of Flight in Seattle, Washington has a
Taylor Aerocar III on display. The Aerocar is a two-place roadable aircraft with removable wings and a Lycoming engine mounted over the rear wheels. The propeller is mounted at the end of a long tail cone. Both the cone and the wings were towed behind the vehicle when driving to the airport. It could cruise at around 100 mph, and it initially sold for $25,000. You can find more information about this unusual "car" at the EAA
Air Venture Museum site.
