A Day at the Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance

If you love cars shows you know that the Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance IS the one to attend at least once in a lifetime. This most prestigious of events is not as much about the cars, but more about a lifestyle that most people only dream about. It is the car culture taken to a whole other level. If you have been following the blog lately you have seen some of the fine works of rolling art that caught my attention, this post however is about the experience of being there and what a fine day it was!

Through these walls is classic car heaven... and lots of fine art, and memorabilia.

Premium brands showcased their products and proud heritage.

The parade of Rolls Royce Ghosts was one of the highlights of the day. Big hat lady drivers and all!

Proud owners show the attention to detail of their restorers. Champagne helps keeps things in perspective.

The oldest car I've ever seen moving under it's own power makes it to the Winners Circle.

The crowds wait for the class winners on the beautifully manicured lawns.

A model poses for photographers. Owner shares the good news?

Stutz was one of the highlighted marques this year.

Sir Stirling Moss inspects the 300SLR he drove to victory in the 50's. Car is topic of this year's poster.

Beautiful trophy apparently to large to fit inside some of the cars ;-)

Class winners prepare to celebrate.

Next time I will watch from up there...

Voisin C-25 Aerodyne owners savor the moment for the Best of Show win.

It was a great day but all good things come to an end and in the end we all (rich and poor) stood in line for a while and caught the shuttle bus back to our realities. Some via Rolls and Ferrari, other via Chevy and Hyundai :-)

There are photos of other cars on separate posts:
